Sgt. Leon Silas Edwards, Jr., age 77, of Antioch, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
Born on April 4, 1948, in Leflore County, Greenwood, Mississippi, he was the beloved son of the late Leon Edwards Sr. and Evelyn Witty Edwards. Sgt. Edwards was raised in the Baptist Town neighborhood of Greenwood, where his roots in faith, family, and community began. He was a proud graduate of Threadgill High School, Class of 1966.

Services for Dorothy Jean Franklin of Greenwood will be at noon Saturday at Great Southern Funeral Home.
Ms. Franklin, 71, died Friday, July 19, 2019, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was retired from the U.S. Army.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Family hour will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday.
Dr. Percy Washington will officiate at the services.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Philbert Harris, Jr. was born on August 25, 1947 in Leflore County, MS to the late Philbert and Viola Harris. He was called home on September 13, 2016 at his home.
Philbert was the seventh of ten children and was part of a large family of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He attended Greenwood public schools where he graduated from Threadgill High School. After high school, he attended Coahoma Junior College and received an Associate of Arts degree. He then went on to attend Jackson State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.

Levi Henderson was born July 28, 1947 on Dixie Lane in Greenwood, Mississippi to the parents of Solomon Il and Desserine Wright Henderson. Levi was the eldest of six children born to Solomon and Desserine, both of whom preceded him in death.
Three more sisters were joined to the Henderson family from the marriage of Solomon and Jessie Burks Henderson. One sister, Gloria Faye preceded him in death.
