Vernon L. Jackson was born April 16, 1949 to the union of John Henry Jackson and Helen Louise Jackson in St. Louis, Missouri.

A Time To Plant
He was educated in St. Louis, Missouri public schools from Kindergarten to 9th grade. He graduated from Threadgill High School in Greenwood, Mississippi in 1967. He also attended Jackson University.

He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and was later baptized by his uncle along with his two sisters Patricia and Norma. Vernon was united in Holy Matrimony to Geraldine Theresa Ramsey on November 2, 1968. They were married for 48 years but together was with each other for 50 years.
To this union, two sons were born Reginald Earl Jackson and Randall Ellery Jackson.

Vernon was employed by the Internal Revenue Service and retired in 2003 after 15 years of service. Prior to the IRS, Vernon worked for Monsanto for 25 years.

Vernon loved music especially the sounds of Motown, he enjoyed socializing with his sisters as well as class reunions for Threadgill and Beaumont High School, were events he always looked forward to attending. He enjoyed going to hang out with guys at Mr. Williams barbershop on Wednesday or Friday.

Vernon departed this life on January 6, 2016. He was preceded in death by his Father John Henry Jackson and Mother Helen Louise Jackson. He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted wife~ Geraldine and five sons Reginald, Randall, Nicholas, Vernon and Nathan; five sisters~ Pat, Norma, Johnny Denise, Beverly, and Harriet; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; in-laws~ Florene (Roosevelt), Sammie Lee Ramsey of Greenwood, Mississippi; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
